APPLICANTS SOUGHT FOR COMMUNITY LEADERSHIP PROGRAM

September 20, 2013

The Murtoa Progress Association is calling for expressions of interest from people who wish to take up the Leadership Wimmera challenge in 2014.

The Murtoa Progress Association is offering one scholarship to a member of the Murtoa community to participate in the Regional Leadership Skills program in 2014.

Regional Leadership Skills program builds life skills to enhance participation in workplace, community and personal arenas.Participants identify, design and implement a leadership project in their workplace or community.  This culminates in presentations where each team reports key findings and recommendations to project sponsors, Leadership Wimmera Committee and participating local government agencies.

The program includes:

· A weekend retreat in February discussing topics including: leadership in the region, communication, effective leadership styles, thinking “outside the square”; goal-setting and decision making.

· Five full days of leadership training over a six month period.

· Identifying and working on a community or workplace project.

· A full day workshop on public speaking and presentation skills.

In 2013 the Murtoa Progress Association sponsored Melinda Keel’s Leadership Wimmera experience. Melinda says that she has gained much from her Regional Leadership Skills experience this year and wishes to again thank the Murtoa Progress Association for sponsoring her.  ‘I have found the program very rewarding, my confidence has grown and I have met some great people who I have learnt a lot from.  It is definitely a program worth doing and I would encourage others to have a go at it’.

Expressions of Interest close 30th September.
