GrainCorp Photographic Competition

Murtoa and District is a photographers dream with interesting characters, historic buildings, beautiful landscapes and a thriving grains industry. The Murtoa A&P Society in association with the Murtoa Big Weekend Committee is conducting the “GrainCorp” Photographic Competition, providing all photographers with an opportunity to showcase their reflections of Murtoa and District to win some fabulous prizes.
Photographers are requested to submit photographs no larger than 8″x12″ of a portrait, building or landscape from Murtoa and district. The photographs mounted on card and be submitted to the Secretary, Murtoa A& P Society for display at the Murtoa Agricultural Show on Friday 4th October 2013.
Following the show the winning entries and a selection of the best remaining entries will be relocated for display over the remainder of the Big Weekend.
The images will be viewed by a judging panel who will select their overall choice of best photograph in each category. There will be a separate category for the People’s Choice Award for which members of the public will be entitled to cast a vote.
The categories for which prizes will be awarded are:
- Class 680 Best portrait of a person currently or formally resident of Murtoa & District
First Prize $200 | Second Prize $50 - Class 681 Best image of a building currently standing in Murtoa and District
First Prize $200 | Second Prize $50 - Class 682 Best Landscape from Murtoa and District
First Prize $200 | Second Prize $50 - Class 683 GrainCorp – Best Grain Industry Related Image from the District
First Prize $200 | Second Prize $50 - People’s Choice Best Photograph Overall
First Prize $200 | Second Prize $50
Judges decision will be final. Voting for the people’s choice award will be conducted over the Big Weekend and will be announced at the Mechanics Hall, Duncan Street at approximately 1.00pm Sunday 6th October 2013.
Entries close at 5.00pm on Tuesday 1st October with the Secretary Murtoa A & P Society, PO Box 55, Murtoa, VIC 3390 or Murtoa & District Neighbourhood House (SLAAM), McDonald Street, Murtoa, VIC 3390. Photographs are to be submitted at time of entry. Entry Fee is $2.50 per photograph.
For the purpose of this competition the Murtoa and District will be defined as those areas in the Murtoa, Lubeck and Jung postal districts. Download the entry form.
