Leanne graduates
October 30, 2015Leanne Mcintrye Yew has successfully graduated from the 2015 Wimmera Development Association’s Leadership Program
Leanne participated in the Regional Leadership Skills program which builds life skills to enhance participation in the workplace, community and personal arenas.
Regional Leadership program participants identify, design and implement a leadership project in their workplace or community. This culminates in a presentation where each team reports key findings and recommendations to their sponsors, family friends and others participating in the program.
Leanne’s team consisted of eight participants and they produced a Calendar for 2016 which highlights key events happening throughout the region during 2016. The Calendar is titled Stories Behind The Wimmera. The calendar is for sale at the Murtoa Newsagency at the very reasonable cost of $10.00 each.
Leanne was sponsored by the Murtoa Progress Association and is the third person from Murtoa in as many years who has received this support.
The program includes a weekend retreat discussing topics including, leadership in the region, communication, effective leadership styles, thing “outside the square”, goal setting and decision making. Also included are five full days of leadership training over a six month period, identifying and working on a community or workplace project and a full day workshop on public speaking and presentation skills.
Leanne said “I really enjoyed completing the program as it gave me confidence in meeting and dealing with people, the opportunity to work with others with a different range of skills and ideas and I have been able to learn skills that will make me a better community participant. I urge any young person who is interested in serving their community to consider participation in this program.”.
The Progress Association is interested in hearing from anyone from the community interested in taking part in next year’s program to contact President Paula Clark, Secretary David Grigg or any other member of the committee who will be happy to discuss the finer details of the program.
The 2015 WDA Leadership Graduates – Leanne is 4th from the left in the top row.
